Fort Lowell Park was awash in activity this morning. In addition to today’s orienteering meet, park goers were observed participating in activities ranging from dog walking and tennis to tai chi, to the more exotic pursuits of sword play and fly-casting practice. All the while, a model glider had the best view of park goings on as it flew silently over the venue.
While significant capital improvements continue to be made at Fort Lowell Park, construction was not an impediment to today’s event. Course setter Billie Braimah made use of the on-going construction by placing one control in a field of dirt moguls - absent the snow of course.
Over 30 participants were registered for the Fort Lowell Park-O. Whether you did the 23-control sprint course or opted for a more leisurely explorer course, one could not ask for a better end-of-winter day.
As always, it’s the volunteers that make our events possible. A special shout-out goes to Alan Craig, Michelle Edwards, David Edmeades, Billie Braimah, Cristina Luis, and Wayne Lubis for retrieving controls. Thank you, Peg Davis for helping with the intermediate clinic.
