We are lucky in Tucson to have quick access to the cool forests at elevation in the beautiful Santa Catalina Mountains. We're even luckier that we are orienteers and get to see areas that most never even know are accessible! Course setter Alan Craig treated us to three different options at Bear Wallow, enjoyed by over 60 participants. The Long and Short Advanced courses included a special corridor section, with 7 controls that were not marked on the map. In order to find the controls efficiently, orienteers needed to use the control description to focus their efforts towards the right feature. There was also an Explorer course, whose controls could be visited in any order. You can see the Advanced (short was a subset of the long) and Explorer courses on Livelox.
Lots of people made today go smoothly. Much thanks to Annie King for working the start, Catie Cuslidge registration, Peg Davis for teaching the Beginners Clinic, Melissa Trout for covering while the meet director ran a course, and Joe Hernandez for doing a little bit of everything all day long! Assisting the course setter and meet director with control retrieval were Jeff and Nancy Coker, Joe Plassmann, Annie King, and Joe Hernandez.
