Day two of the Southwest Spring Weekend took place in the desert surrounding the Ironwood Picnic Area in Tucson Mountain Park. This is a favorite of many out-of-town visitors (and locals!) because of the challenges unique to running in such a flat environment.

 Control at Ironwood

Today there were once again two advanced courses, long and short, and 40 people tested their ability to traverse the bajada accurately. Fastest on the long course today were Aleksey Sabunin for the men and Brooke Mann for the women. The short course was won by Bryan Durrell, with Team Telia and Justin taking the number two slot.

Finish area at Ironwood

The courses today were set by Cristina Luis while Melissa Trout took on meet director duties. She was aided in registration and start/finish by out-of-town visitor (from Germany!) Caroline Luis, as well as Jeff & Nancy Coker. Helping to pick up controls were Aleksey Sabunin, Gavin Wyatt-Mair, Amy Winston & John Crowther, and Jeff & Nancy Coker. Another shoutout to the crew from Sahuarita JROTC for helping with setup before registration opened.

All the results and splits are available on the SportIdent Center Results Page. Check out the map and view/upload routes on Livelox.
