Mother Nature provided the perfect backdrop for Tucson Orienteering Club’s first event of 2020!  We had a great turn out of both new and veteran orienteers who were able to enjoy the fast and runnable terrain of Greasewood Park.

Robere Miller, with his soon to be patented shin gaiters, found all the checkpoints  in the fastest time to take home the gold.  The battle for second and third place came down to less than 10 seconds, with both Dan Yamashiro and Mike Bertram getting all the checkpoints, but Dan sprinted in to take second place.  The Navy Junior ROTC cadets from Sahuarita High School made a strong showing with Tristan Mercier leading the fleet.

It was great to see people trying out orienteering for the first time and some that were reconnecting with the sport.  We hope to see everyone at the Southwest Spring Week events in February or at another future event!  Keep up with the Tucson Orienteering Club on this website, Facebook and Meetup for notices on future events.  The Phoenix Orienteering club also has a few events in the near future.
