As Spring comes at full stride we can look forward to a fun-filled, fast-paced urban-style score-O event at the University of Arizona on Sunday, April 27.  The course will have 29 locations marked on a detailed color map.  At each location you will answer a multiple-choice question about something there.  A correct answer earns 10 points but a wrong answer is penalized 10 points.  You'll have 90 minutes, with a 10-point-per-minute penalty for going overtime.

The 1:5000-scale University of Arizona map is highly detailed and accurate.   With careful attention to it you will be able to decipher many time-saving shortcuts as you navigate your way to each control check point, as well as be able to avoid barriers to travel, such as construction zones, which will be shown on the map based on surveys of the campus done just a few days prior.  With a keen reading of the map, the fastest of you might even be able to clean up the entire course in way under the 90 minute allotted time!

Meet Administration:  The meet director for this event is Ludwig Hill.   You may contact him here if you have questions or desire to help out on the day of the event.  Since Ludwig will be wearing two hats for this event (he is also the course setter), the administration of this event will be very simple:  Self check-in for members (non-members may register with the meet director).  Mass brief and mass start.  No clock  - your ranking will be determined by the number of controls visited and by order of finish.  Course closes after 90 minutes.  No control retrieval.

Large Groups:  If you are planning to bring a large group of more than five people, please let the course setter know so that we can reserve enough maps for you.

Youth Groups: All participants under 18 must provide a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.  If your group plans to bring a minor without their parent/guardian, then please download a copy of the Waiver and Permission to Participate form from our Documents, Guides, and Forms page (look for it under the "For Orienteers" section) and have it completed and signed by a parent/guardian before you bring it with you to the event.  For more details, see our article about the waiver form for minors.

Directions:  Start/Finish/Registration will be at the Chemistry Quad, a tree-shaded plaza with abundant outdoor seating located between the Chemical Sciences, Koffler and Biological Sciences East Buildings.  Free street-side and lot weekend parking can be found very close by (see map below).  Or park your bike right at the start!
