Peg Davis is kicking off the summer with the first in a series of three "street-o's"!!!  RSVP required. Start between 6-6:30 pm; Finish by 7:30.  $3 for individuals; $5 for teams.  Members may invite one guest for free to this event, but must be mentioned in your RSVP.  For details and restrictions, click here.

Come for a fun summer evening using an aerial map to find as many controls as you can in whatever order you like, then get back to the start point in one hour or start losing those hard won points.

Broadmoor is a very pretty midtown neighborhood of charming houses, each one quite different. I’ve found some themes for control locations that I think you might find fun, but be careful! My goal is to test your map reading skills.

Four rules:
1.       Do not set foot on private property.
2.       Do not get hit by a car.
3.       Reserve a map by emailing florianopolissc (-at-) yahoo (-dot-) com by 4 pm July 9 with the names of each person attending. Title the note “Broadmoor”. If you do not RSVP, you will have to wait until 6:30 pm to start and then only if we have any extra maps.
4.       It’s a game! Just have fun!

Bring: water and a timepiece. Wear light clothing or reflectors since it will be getting dark. Compasses are optional for this meet. Look for the sun setting in the west to calculate direction.

Scoring: Each correct answer = 1 point. Each wrong answer = minus1 point. Each minute or fraction thereof after 60 minutes = minus 1 point.

Directions:  The Start/Finish point will be at the Malvern Plaza at the corner of Malvern and the south side of Arroyo Chico. The neighborhood association has asked us to NOT park at the start. If you drive, PLEASE park cars at the lot on Treat Street at Winsett Street (SW corner), then walk north on the Treat Walkway to Arroyo Chico and turn left to reach the start point (there will be signs). Bike parking is welcome at Malvern Plaza.

Fees:  $3/individual, $5/team for all comers.

Peg could use a few volunteers between 5:45 and 6:30. This will allow you to run the course. Contact me through the website.

Schedule: Brave the heat and hope for a beautiful sunset or even rain.
    6:00 p.m.  -  Course opens.
    6:05 p.m. – 10 minute beginner’s clinic
    6:30 p.m.  -  Last  time to start.
7:30 p.m.  -  Course closes. You must return to the start point to check in.

Check-In:  To ensure that all are safe, everyone, whether finished with the course or not, must check in formally at Start/Finish before the course closes and before leaving the meet site.

Stayed tuned for two more Street-Os on July 15 and July 21!
