Join us on a Thursday evening for a fun course around the park, plus potluck and Annual General Meeting.


Cristina Luis, fresh from the World Orienteering Championships, is offering up a special session of Poker orienteering on an aerial photo "map". Poker-O is a score orienteering course with a twist. There will be controls scattered around and in the vicinity of Reid Park. At each control location there will also be a playing card. Instead of punching as many controls as you can you will only be allowed to punch five controls - a poker hand! This means you'll probably visit a few locations more than once... and remember to bring your sharp memory, because you won't be permitted to write down which cards are at each location! The person with the best hand formed within the time limit (still tbd - 30-45 mins) wins.

Now about that meeting... The US Orienteering Federation requires us to have an open meeting among members once a year. While all of our board meetings are open to any interested party, tonight Peg hopes to draw out all present about their hopes, dreams and desires for our club in the next year. Not part of the "in group"? Your input is passionately requested. To draw new participants and improve the quality and interest of the meet, ideas are needed from you tonight. Plus, it will last less than an hour and Peg will hand out frozen treats.

P.S. If you are part of the "in group", the president assumes you will remain on the board of directors for yet another year of your faithful and greatly appreciated service. If you would like to resign, please contact Peg at fuggetaboutit@cuzweneedyou.

Fees: Members: $5/individual, $8/team for members of any recognized orienteering club. $10/individual, $15/team for nonmembers. Compasses rent for $1. Safety whistles sell for $1. Every person, all courses, all meets is required to carry some type of safety whistle.

Directions: We will use Ramada 24 as a start point and meeting site. Enter the park from Country Club. If coming from 22nd Street, turn right at the second entry. If coming from Broadway, turn left at the first entry south of Camino Campestre. Follow the orange and white signs first left, then right to our ramada behind DeMeester Performance bandshell.


5:45 PM Registration opens. No beginners' clinic this month.
6 Courses open.

6:30 Last time to start a classic course.

7:15 Courses close.
7 Potluck - bring something delicious. Plates and utensils provided.
7:30 Annual General Meeting

Check-In: To insure that all are safe everyone, whether finished with the course or not, must check in formally at Start/Finish before leaving the meet site.
