Enjoy some orienteering Sunday morning at Greasewood Park!  We are starting early so the weather should be lovely and cool. We hope to see many new friends from Tucson Meet Yourself out for their first orienteering event.  Beginners clinics will be held.

Four courses will be offered. White or basic (1.6 km), yellow or advanced beginner (2.0 km) and orange for those with good map or compass skills (2.7 km) courses will be set to accommodate beginner and intermediate orienteers. A "Gimmick-O" will be set to interest the old veterans who have visited the park many times.

Greasewood Park is one of our easier maps to navigate on due to its easy runnable terrain, fairly open desert landscape and its helpful navigational landmarks, but it is still possible to mess up if you are not careful and don't pay attention! The map will be 1:5000 scale with 4 foot contour intervals.

To reserve a map, you must RSVP with the number of people in your group.  Email me please so I can make enough maps for everyone.

Directions: From I-10, take Speedway Blvd. west 2.2 miles to Greasewood Road. Turn left at Greasewood. The entrance to Greasewood Park is the first possible right turn. This is about 10 minutes from I-10. Event begins at the ramada.

Fees: $3/person, $5/team. Pay for one course, run them all! Any course after the first will be scored as recreational, not competitive.

Before October 30: reserve your map with Peg!

7:30 am Beginner's clinic

8:00 am Courses open

10:30 am Courses close

Safety: Every person is required to carry some sort of safety whistle. Everyone, whether finished with the course or not, must check in formally at the Start/Finish before leaving the meet site to prevent rescue searches.

See you there!
