Course setter and director:  GeeGee Larrington

Come run around GeeGee’s neighborhood at our Street Orienteering event on Sunday, June 19th.  This is a runner/beginner/everybody-friendly event, so come one and come all!  But be sure to reserve a map for each participant by Friday, June 17 from gglarrington (-at-) gmail (-dot-) com.

The event will start/finish at GeeGee’s front yard and will use the square mile between La Canada and LaCholla, Ina and Orange Grove.  Enter the neighborhood off LaCholla Blvd. at Omar Drive (traffic light) turning east.  On your left will be the Donaldson Elementary school which we will not cross.  We will use it for parking at the east end near the basketball courts.  A small start-up church will be gathering just before our event ends but no parking conflicts.

The format will be a Score-O with two possible time limits:  one hour, and 1.5 hours.  People may choose either before they go out or while they are out.  Whichever you choose, there will be a penalty of 10 points per minute late.  All controls will be worth 10 points and fastest times win.  Recreational participants will have no time limit but must be back by 10:00.

The map is an aerial photograph.  There are no physical controls, just a question to answer at each control location.  Do not step on private property or go between homes.  Because we are running/walking through a residential neighborhood early on a Sunday morning, please keep voices and other noises low.  Watch out for cars especially on a curves.

Directions:  GeeGee’s house is at 6821 N. Cassim Place just a block from the school but there are 3 turns at the first streets you come to and the only way you can turn.  The first turn is a right onto Amahl around the tennis courts; then an immediate left onto Cassim Lane; and an immediate right onto Cassim Place.  6821 is the second house on the right.   You can drive by to check it out and then drive back to the school to park.  Please do not use the swimming pool/tennis courts parking area as that is a private business.  GeeGee’s cell number is 520--269--0340.   The only available restroom will be at the start/finish.
