Come run around the neighborhood at our Street-Orienteering event on Sunday, July 11th. This is a runner/beginner/everybody-friendly event, so come one and come all!
The event will start/finish under a grove of pines at the SW corner of Toumey Park, near the junction of E. 19th Street and S. Erin Avenue. This in turn is near the
There are plentiful alleyways and utility easements -- some are runnable, some are choked with brush, and some come to an abrupt dead end. We don't plan to map the dead ends, so use your judgment and have an alternate route in mind. There is also an aboveground section of the Arroyo Chico wash in the east side of the area.
The format will be a score-o with two possible time limits: one hour, and 1.5 hours. People may choose either before they go out or while they are out. Whichever you choose, there will be a penalty of 10 points per minute late. All controls will be worth 10 points.
The map will be an aerial photograph with some mapped elements on top to assist you. There will be no physical controls, just a question to answer at each control location.
NOTE: There is plenty of parking around the park, but there are no bathrooms. It might be possible to patronize the 7-11 on the SE corner of Swan & 22nd, or the Burger King on the SE corner of Columbus & 22nd, in time of need.
