Tucson Orienteering Club will be hosting an orienteering event Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Reid Park in Tucson, AZ.  This will be a Motala style event with options of between one to three loops with a map exchange between each loop.  The length of each loop will be between 1.5 and 2.0 km.  This is an urban park so the actual orienteering / navigation will be very beginner and family friendly.  Due to the warmer weather the event will be held earlier than normal, starting at 7:30 AM.

The meet center will be in the southwest corner of Reid Park near ramada #14.  Enter the park off South Country Club Road directly across from east Beverly Drive.  When you enter the parking lot turn left (north) and look for the orienteering banner in the northeast corner of the parking lot.

If you will be bringing a larger group please e-mail the meet directors prior to the race at uwviper <at> aol <dot> com.

Schedule:

  • 7:30:  Registration opens and first start
  • 8:00:  Beginner's Clinic
  • 9:30:  Last start
  • 11:00:  Course closes

Check-In: To insure that all are safe, everyone, whether finished with the course or not, must check in formally at Start/Finish before courses close and before leaving the meet site.

Fees:  The event costs are as listed in this chart.  Note: although this event features a motala style course the $2 Tucson Motala fee does not apply.  Every person (all courses, all meets) is required to carry some type of safety whistle so please bring a whistle or purchase one when you arrive.

Youth Groups: All participants under 18 must provide a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.  If your group plans to bring a minor without their parent/guardian, then please download a copy of the Waiver and Permission to Participate form from our Documents, Guides, and Forms page (look for it under the "For Orienteers" section) and have it completed and signed by a parent/guardian before you bring it with you to the event.  For more details, see our article about the waiver form for minors.

Friend-For-Free: Members may invite one guest for free to this event.  For details and restrictions, click here.
