What better way to celebrate Mother's Day than with an early morning street-o? Moms participate for free today for a fun urban run.
Map and course: Participants will be provided with a basic line map of neighborhood streets and circles marking the locations to visit. An accompanying clue sheet will indicate the number of points each location is worth and a question to answer in order to prove you've visited it. Get as many points as you can in 45 minutes!
Greaterville Score-O Results -- 4/11/21
Sunday April 11 the Tucson Orienteering Club hosted a Score-O at the Greaterville location on the eastern side of the Santa Rita Mountains. Thirty nine orienteers participated in their choice of either a 1 or 2 hour event allowing each team or individual to establish their own route choice while visiting as many controls as possible during that time frame. Twenty-two controls were placed on the course, each control assigned a point value with a total of 500 points possible on the course. There was a 10 point deduction in total score for every minute or partial minute over the prescribed event time limit. The day was “Chamber of Commerce” perfect with temperatures in the 60’s-70’s, light cloud cover and very little wind.

Learn to orienteer! This is a hands-on introduction to the sport of orienteering. After this session you'll be armed with the basic skills you need to attend one of our regular events, including a basic understanding of orienteering maps and courses, as well as orienteering event logistics. Date: May 2nd, 9am-11am Details: Pre-registration is required and participation is limited to the first 8 people who sign up. All participants will receive a $5 credit towards a Tucson Orienteering Club membership. You'll receive more detailed information (where to meet, what to wear/bring) in an email after signing up.
