About the Event

Rumor has it that these neighborhood streets were designed to discourage burglars. There's no easy straight get away with this layout! See how well you can keep track while navigating to control locations. The usual rules apply: keep off private property and don't get hit by a car.

Location: Palo Verde Park is between Broadway and 22nd Street and between Wilmot and Kolb.

Courses: 90 minute score-O with separate categories for bike and foot. Visit as many controls as you can in any order, but get back in 90 minutes or less to avoid enormous overtime penalties. Any controls with yes or no answers will have huge penalties for wrong answers. This discourages guessing.

Maps:  Maps will be provided to all participants at the event site.  No other maps may be used. You could use a compass, but the sun will be in the east; what more do you need?

Schedule:

  • 7:30 am - First chance to start.
  • 8:30 am - Last chance to start.
  • 10:00 am - Courses close.

Registration: Pre-registration is required in order to keep an eye on crowd size and prepare the right number of maps.  See the "Fees" section below for information on coupon codes to use for member and junior pricing.  Everyone must register as an individual even if you plan on going as a team.  See who has already signed up.  Registration closes at noon on Friday April 21.

Directions and Parking: From Broadway, turn south at the traffic light on Jessica (between Wilmot and Kolb). When it ends at the park, go west one block to the start. Start is on the access road at the northwest corner of Palo Verde Park. 32.216800, -110.849285.  Click here for google map.

Youth Participants: All participants under 18 must provide a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.  If you plan to bring a minor without their parent/guardian, then please download a copy of the Waiver and Permission to Participate form and have it completed and signed by a parent/guardian before you bring it with you to the event.  For more details, see our instructions sheet.

Covid Safety:  Please wear a mask during check-in before and after your run and any time you are unable to keep distance from other people. Do not show up if you are feeling unwell.

Other Safety Information: To ensure that all are safe, everyone, whether finished with the course or not, must check in formally at Start/Finish before courses close and before leaving the event site.
